The crucial debate is about the choice between nuclear and renewable energy sources. The biggest concern about nuclear power is nuclear waste. So far, it was like “Nuclear power for you – nuclear waste for the others?”
Many problems associated with nuclear power are summarised at
www.mng.org.uk/green_house/no_nukes.htm
Alternative sources of energy are considerably more attractive in many ways than nuclear power. These sources include solar power, wind, wave and geothermal energy. It is also obvious that no combination of alternative technologies can replace the current usage of fossil fuels. There is simply not enough non-fossil fuel available for this. In order to mitigate global warming, we will have to change our behaviour to reduce our personal energy consumption. We must change our current live style and seriously strive for a sustainable living.
